CSS experiments

Sorry for the noise, this meaningless journal (although not more than some I have read... :D) is made only as a CSS playground, to allow me to test various CSS designs, for me or for others, in various browsers.
Of course, the great Journal CSS Editor made by xork could be used for this, but I prefer to have my own sandbox, in real, live setting.
The first version was for feawen but I just changed the images to no longer use her design, since she picked another CSS.

Some Big Section

These are bookmarklets, to be pasted in the address bar of the browser. Should work for most browsers.

(No mood) for journal javascript:var es = document.getElementsByName("supermoodid"); es[0].value = 0; void(0);

Move comment box next to deviation javascript: var co = document.getElementById("reply"); var ca = document.getElementById("zoomed-in").parentNode; ca.appendChild(co); void(0);

HTML codes that doesn't work in dA

Only admins like lolly can use hn tags!
For some mysterious  reason, span tag isn't allowed on dA.
Curiously, the closing span tag isn't escaped.

interesting sidebar... the same css code that you give me?
philho Featured By Owner Apr 1, 2008  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Lol, not really. I experimented today a lot with journal CSS and found out that to be compatible with IE 6, the most used solution to make such sidebar is to have it positioned absolutely, and to push the journal text to the left with padding.
I can give you the code if you wish, or just take a look at this message.

my sidebar is not compatible with IE! :(
philho Featured By Owner Apr 2, 2008  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Yes, I discovered that while playing with the above CSS... :(
Some designs are messed up by IE, and the fact the journal is inserted in the middle of a bigger page doesn't help!
A possible workaround is to set special values for IE, with smaller percentages: _width: 85%; or something. That's because it interprets the box model differently than the W3C spec... and properties preceded by an underscore are understood only by IE!

IE suks
philho Featured By Owner Apr 8, 2008  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Yes, particularly from the webmaster point of view: so much to do to make a design working for it. It is better with IE7, should be OK with IE8. I no longer care about IE5 or IE5.5, which seem to have become even less used than Opera, and are really quirky, but from what I saw, IE6 is still widely used, so we must address it...
