Nyu's Art Meme Remix by philho Nyu's Art Meme Remix by philho
OK, I come way after the big tsunami of this Art Meme by *nyu: I saw everybody I watch, or almost, making his/her own, not to mention those I find while browsing.
I discovered it quite early, with ~effenndee's one which was one of the first, but it took me a while before I even start to draw (on several sheets of paper), I scanned that only this month and assembled the whole this week!
I don't mind coming late, I don't search to follow trends, even if I don't necessarily avoid them — hey, I didn't omitted to read Harry Potter because it was popular, or to hear The White Stripes because they have success, and I enjoy them because they are good!
And I wanted to depart from the "mass", by remixing the meme to my own layout: I see myself mostly as a comic artist, so I used a comic layout with frames and narrative order.
I like this funny and witty meme, that's the reason why I did it, and why, despite my dislike for chain-letters and tags, I will tag artists I appreciate which have an original style. They are free to ignore me, of course, but I would enjoy seeing the meme done by them.
So, I tag... (who haven't done it yet?)
~GreenEyedMonster88 :icongreeneyedmonster88:, ~ludeshka :iconludeshka: and *kinkei :iconkinkei: (mmm, three girls, what a coincidence!) They are free, of course, to ignore this request from some random watcher... =)

wowwowWOW!!:wow: Heheheh. that really is different! Amazing arrangement of format! It seriously feels like I'm reading a comic now.:D It's a bit awkward with the mixing and the width, but nothing serious. Oh, Kudos with the feet and extra detail throughout! Great job!

Yes, the layout was kind of improvised along, while trying to maintain a logical flow and to fit the drawings made separately on various sheets.
I should have spaced the frames a bit more, but it is the first time I tried doing these with The Gimp on multiple layers, and its way of drawing rectangles is a bit odd.
If that's what you mean with "mixing and the width".

I am not super happy with some clumsy drawing (it shows lack of penciling) when it is supposed to show my skills... Well, it also shows my weaknesses, I suppose.
Thanks for getting a look and being kind enough to fave it! ;)

Lol! The majority of the meme I saw just skip this step or use a funny spin to avoid this, often with the excuse "ewww, that's gross!".
Well, I wash regularly my feet, so I didn't skipped it since it was fun...
In French, we say "Il dessine comme un pied", ie. "He draws like a foot", meaning clumsily. Now I can take it literally! :D

Thanks for the visit.

Replace "clumsily" with "technically brilliantly" and you'd have your feet! You sound like you had fun doing the meme which makes it even better XD Cheers!

Yes, I like to follow trends... with a twist! That's also part of creativity. Seeing lot of respectful or iconoclast memes helped in thinking out of the box... And making it B&W in my comic style seemed natural.

Coffee machine: it is old fashioned, with paper filters (I should find a permanent one). I don't like "modern" machines, fed with capsules where the wrapping is as costly as the content! Plus I drink a big bowl of coffee each morning, would need several capsules! ;)

Thanks! And sure, but even looking at how it is, or how it is done, my mind have difficulties to grasp the shortening... o_O But I slowly get it. =)

Have you tried drawing guidelines to where the object windens and narrows? I've found that can help - draw it 'normally' first, then add the guidelines and do some editing so it fits within the lines :aww:
